What is One-On-One Training?

A behaviour consultation is a private lesson between a professional dog trainer, the dog, and their owner. These sessions are tailored to the specific needs of the dog and focus on personalized training goals, such as obedience behaviours.

What Happens in a One-On-One Training Session?

  • Initial Assessment & Goal Setting

    • The trainer evaluates your dog’s behaviour, temperament, and current skill level.

    • They discuss your training goals in terms of obedience and skills (e.g. sit, recall, stay, loose-leash walking, etc.)

    • A customized training plan is created based on your goals and needs.

  • Hands-On Training

    • The trainer demonstrates exercises and teaches you how to practice with your dog.

    • Dogs learn through positive reinforcement (treats, praise, or play).

    • Sessions may take place at home, in a park, or in a controlled training facility.

  • Real-World Applications

    • Training is applied in real-life situations, such as walking through distractions or practicing commands in public.

    • Trainers work on improving communication between you and your dog.

  • Homework & Progress Tracking

    • The trainer provides exercises to practice between sessions.

    • Follow-up sessions build on previous lessons and adjust techniques as needed.
